Excellence in Veterinary Public Health: A Tribute to Prof. J.K.P. Kwaga, ACENTDFB

This event brings together an academic conference and a retirement tribute in honour of Prof. J.K.P. Kwaga, marking his contributions to veterinary public health. It is hosted by Ahmadu Bello University (A.B.U), Zaria, in collaboration with the Africa Centre of Excellence for Neglected Tropical Diseases and Forensic Biotechnology (ACENTDFB), organised jointly by the Department of Veterinary Public Health and ACENTDFB.

Held under the theme "Celebrating Excellence in Veterinary Public Health," the programme brings together researchers, academics, and practitioners to examine three key areas shaping the field today:

• Track 1 — Epidemiology & Molecular Surveillance: advancing surveillance, diagnostics, and response systems for infectious disease threats.
• Track 2 — Food Safety & Security: exploring innovations for building sustainable and safe food systems.
• Track 3 — Zoonoses, AMR & Molecular Epidemiology: strengthening strategies for disease control and confronting antimicrobial resistance.

Beyond its academic programme, the event serves as a tribute to Prof. Kwaga's career and his impact on the discipline, giving colleagues, students, and collaborators the opportunity to honour his legacy.
